Günther Maria Garzaner , actually Günther Helmuth Alois Garzaner (born December 16, 1951 in Schwaz , Tyrol ; † January 27, 2015 ) was an Austrian writer .

Life

Garzaner learned the profession of electromechanic and worked ten years as a technician at Rank Xerox , later ten years as a sales representative at Bertelsmann . In 1991 he moved to Perg , Upper Austria , and worked there since 1999 as a freelance IT specialist for time recording and access control devices. For health reasons ( amyloidosis ) he had to go into early retirement in 2007.

From 1984 to 1988 he attended the IFS - School of Writing at the Axel Andersson Academy (today the Hamburg Academy for Distance Learning ) in the fields of basics, fiction and journalism . From 1996 to 1998 he wrote texts for the audio CD for the band Die Haderlumpen , from 1998 to 2006 he wrote the novel Null Negativ .

From 2003 he took part in various writing workshops and with the Perg theater group. In 2007 he became a board member of the Stelzhamer Association (New Dialect). In 2004 he joined the IG Authors Authors Austria, won with prose texts at the Linz Culture Spring and in 2008 reached the finals at the ORF radio play competition Track 5 on ORF.

At the end of 2004 he was accepted as a member of the Austrian PEN Club. In 2005 he was co-founder and head of the PromOtheus writing workshops in Freistadt , Linz and Perg (Upper Austria). From 2005 to 2010 the weekly column Perg Sermon appeared in the local press ( Perger and Tips ).

Garzaner wrote essays , short stories and novels . After the death of his mother, he wrote about 1200 poems in high-level language and dialect with an experimental, bizarre and ironic background.

He was a radio amateur and operated the Austrian amateur radio station with the callsign OE5KEO. Garzaner was the father of four daughters. He died on January 27, 2015.
