Gasthof Straub
The Gasthof Straub is an inn in Pfaffenhofen an der Zusam , which is still managed today and is also known under the house name Zum Lagoi . The building is registered as an architectural monument in the Bavarian list of monuments.
history
The property, now on which the inn stands, belonged to (simultaneously: first mention of the village Pfaffenhofen an der together) from the year 1048 until the secularization of the monastery of St. Stephen in Augsburg . Presumably there was an inn with an attached brewery and an associated farm as early as the 15th century. In 1750 the inn was registered on the ground plan of the geometer Johann Kolleffel . The current building was built in 1803 as a restaurant with a brewery. In 1903 an annex was added to the north and the original building was newly plastered. Inside, the dining room and the upper floor in the annex to the ballroom have been repainted. The brewery building was demolished in 1975 after brewing had ceased in 1968. The current condition of the building goes back to a careful restoration and extensive renovation according to monument preservation criteria in the years 1992 to 1994 and 2001 to 2002.
architecture
The inn was built as a three-sided courtyard with an economic building and has a stately appearance. It measures about 30 meters in length and has a floor area of 300 m 2 . The classicist doors from 1803 are remarkable. The wooden ceiling of the dining room has an Art Nouveau version , which has been exposed again since the renovation. Via a spiral staircase with block steps , the visitor comes from the ground floor to the upper floor with the dance / ballroom. The neoclassical painting of the ballroom from 1903 has been preserved. The historical furnishings of the dining room have also been partially preserved. Wall paneling, wall cupboards and sideboards can still be seen in the original, as well as a tiled stove and a stove in the kitchen. The tavern of the inn in the middle of the building is covered with Solnhofen slabs . To the east of this are the dining room with the monkey box and the kitchen with food . There are three economic areas to the west of the Flez. The current facade of the building goes back to the work from 1803 and was restored between 1994 and 2002 and given fresh paint. The facade is structured on the ground floor by nutrustica . The corner blocks are also painted in blue. The facades are painted in ocher, gray and blue. The current facade goes back to a structure in 1903. The building has a gable roof, on the south side a dwelling (decoration: plaque with the year 1803), on the north side an extension with a flat roof. The ridge of the building is oriented almost exactly east-west, the east gable is decorated with a fresco depicting the Last Supper and bears the words "Gasthof v. Josef Straub" . The windows have wide plastering bottles that are color-contrasted from the facade .
In 2002 the owners received a special award from the Schwaben District Home Office for the renovation of the building:
“ Over the past 10 years, the owners have restored the property to its original condition and, in particular, reconstructed the facade design with colored plasterwork, restored the garden and walls, and the interior furnishings (door, dining room, hallway, floor, ceilings, benches, tables, dance hall ) renovated or harmoniously supplemented and thus a gem of the inn culture preserved. Disturbing overmolding from the 1950s has been removed. "
garden
The building is surrounded by a garden on the east and north sides. On the east side there is a metal crucifix on a massive, stone-faced base. In the north there is a well in a system organized with box hedges.
Todays use
The Gasthof Straub is operated as an inn, but is currently (2016) only open regularly for lunch on Sundays. If you reserve in advance for groups of ten or more people, the restaurant also opens on other days. In addition, the inn is used as a cabaret.
In summer the beer garden at the summer cellar ( location ) is also managed, which is about 300 m west of the inn on Sylvesterstraße. A barrel-vaulted system from the 17th or 18th century is still preserved from the former beer cellar , which is also a listed building.
