The Gauliga Südwest 1937/38 was the fifth season of the Gauliga Südwest in football. The SG Eintracht Frankfurt was Gaumeister first time after twice before she was extremely narrowly missed in a row. Also this year, on the penultimate matchday, it looked as if Eintracht would stumble shortly before the finish line, because a 0: 3 at pursuers Borussia Neunkirchen they lost the table lead to the Saarlanders, but on the final day at Riederwald they were able to achieve a 4 : 2 recapture via the FV Saarbrücken. In the final round of the German championship , Eintracht narrowly failed in the preliminary round and missed the semi-finals only because of the poorer goal quotient. The two newcomers from Kaiserslautern and Rüsselsheim immediately relegated, in the promotion rounds for the Gauliga season 1938/39 the merger clubs RTuSV Rot-Weiß Frankfurt and TSG 1861 Ludwigshafen (formerly including FC Phönix) prevailed.
