Gayon Evans (born January 15, 1990 in Manchester Parish ) is a Jamaican sprinter who specializes in the 100-meter run .

Athletic career

Gayon Evans celebrated her first international successes at the 2007 Youth World Championships in Ostrava , where she was disqualified over 100 meters in the quarter-finals and won the silver medal in the Jamaican sprint relay (1000 meters) behind the team from the United States in 2: 06.77 minutes. The following year she won the silver medal with the 4 x 100 meter relay in 43.98 s at the Junior World Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland . In 2009 she was at the Pan American Junior Championships in Port of Spain in 11.71 s sixth in the 100-meter run and won the silver medal in 44.96 s with the relay.

In 2014 she took part in the 200-meter run at the Central America and Caribbean Games in Xalapa , but was eliminated there with 24.33 s in the first round. At the IAAF World Relays 2017 in the Bahamas , she took second place in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 42.95 s. The following year, she took part in the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham over 60 meters , made it to the semifinals and decided not to compete there. In April she first took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast and won the bronze medal behind Michelle-Lee Ahye from Trinidad and Tobago and her compatriot Christania Williams with a new best of 11.22 seconds . With the Jamaican relay she also secured silver in 42.52 seconds behind the team from England.
