Gbarpolu County is an administrative region ( county ) in Liberia , it has a size of 9 689 km² and had 83,388 inhabitants at the last census (2008).
The administrative region is divided into six districts.
The capital is Bopolu in the district of the same name.

Gbarpolu is located in the north-west of the country and borders with the District of Kongba on Sierra Leone .
economy
Before the civil war in Liberia , the economy in Gbarpolu was based mainly on mining in addition to subsistence agriculture.
politics
In the first democratic Senate elections after the civil war, Daniel Flomo Naatehn was elected by the UP . In 2007 JSB Theodore Momo - also UP - was elected when a by-election was required .
