Memorial stone for the victims of the raft disaster of May 21, 1907
The listed memorial stone for the victims of the raft accident on May 21, 1907 is a four-meter-high cuboid made of shell limestone . The monument is located on the right high bank of the Isar , about halfway between Ismaning (Upper Bavaria) and the Ismaning district of Fischerhäuser at river kilometer 132.3 (file number D-1-84-130-23).
It commemorates the death of four men who had an accident on a rapids during a raft trip on the Isar and drowned in the process. Two of the men were officials of the Royal Bavarian State Building Administration. It was also from this office that the stone was erected in memory of his two collaborators.
On the side facing the Isar there is a bronze plate that reads:
- On May 21, 1907, August Kahn, royal building inspector, Anton Spiegel, royal building inspector, Martin Duxneuner, skipper, and Franz Pechler, skipper, had an accident while touring the Isar. Erected in honor of memory by the Kgl. Bair. State Building Administration.
