The war memorial on the church square in Ismaning

The listed war memorial on the church square in Ismaning (north of Munich) is a four-meter-high obelisk made of black marble (file number D-1-84-130-6). It was built in 1899 on the square in front of the parish church of St. Johann Baptist on the right bank of the Seebach .

The municipal administration, which commissioned the memorial at the suggestion of the Veterans and Warriors' Association founded in 1874, commemorated the soldiers from Ismaning who fell in the German War of 1866 and the Franco-German War of 1870/71.

In the base of the obelisk, the names of the dead are engraved in gold on black marble slabs next to the inscription IN TREUE FEST .
