Geevarghese Timotheos Chundevalel (born February 2, 1928 in Amayannoor ; † June 4, 2019 in Tiruvalla ) was an Indian clergyman and Syro-Malankar bishop of Tiruvalla .

Life

Geevarghese Timotheos Chundevalel entered the seminary of the Eparchy of Tiruvalla in 1943 and completed philosophical and theological studies at the seminary in Candy. He was ordained a priest for the Tiruvalla Eparchy on August 24, 1953 . He initially worked in pastoral care in the parishes of Kothamangalam and Nellimattom. He completed a master's degree in Spiritual Theologies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. In 1967 he was appointed rector of the minor seminary. In 1980 he became vicar of Tiruvalla Cathedral. Isaac Mar Yoohanon , the Bishop of Tiruvalla, named Proto- Syncellus of the Eparchy in 1984 . In 1987 he became administrator of the Tiruvalla eparchy.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Tiruvalla on April 30, 1988. The Archbishop of Trivandrum Benedikt Varghese Gregorios Thangalathil OIC donated him episcopal consecration in St. John's Cathedral on August 6 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Cyril Baselios Malancharuvil , Bishop of Battery (the later Grand Archbishop), and Paulos Philoxinos Ayyamkulangara , auxiliary bishop in Trivandrum. Among other things, he was secretary of the Kerala Catholic Bishop's Council (KCBC). In 1994 he was Vice President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI).

On March 29, 2003, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
