history

In 1785 the mountain is referred to as Geyers Wacht on sheet 281 of the Berlin copy of the Saxon miles sheets , in the Freiberg copy there is the indication Geyers Wach and the addition Signal . Albert Schiffner describes Seifersdorf as lying at the "eastern foot of the Geierswacht". During the Napoleonic War on August 24, 1813, the field guard from Geierschen Gut was stationed here. The mountain served as a trigonometric point from 1881 until the end of the 20th century . Around 1900 a small quarry was built at the foot of the mountain; not far from there, the development of the Geierswacht residential area began in 1994. The street that opens up this residential area is called "Geierswacht".
