Sungurlare ( Bulgarian Сунгурларе ) is a small Bulgarian town and administrative center of a municipality of the same name in the east of the country in the Oblast (district) Burgas . The region is known for its viticulture and its wineries. The famous “Sungurlaski Misket ” grapevine is grown here.

Sungurlare is located in the Upper Thracian Plain , around 80 km northwest of Burgas . The administrative center of the neighboring municipality of Karnobat is around 25 km away . Five major roads cross in Sungurlare.

The municipality of Sungurlare (Bulgarian Община Сунгурларе) includes 29 villages in addition to the city of Sungurlare. Its population is 14,243 (as of March 15, 2009). The municipality borders in the north on the Shumen Oblast , in the east on the municipality Ruen in the south on the municipality Karnobat and in the west on the Oblasts Sliven and Yambol .
