Gene Force (born June 15, 1916 in New Madison , Ohio , † August 21, 1983 in Brooklyn , Michigan ) was an American racing car driver .
Career
Force competed in 32 races for the AAA (from 1956: USAC) National Series between 1951 and 1960 . His best results were three third places, which he achieved in 1959 in Sacramento and 1960 in Langhorne and on the Indiana State Fairground .
In 1951 and 1960 he was also at the start of the Indianapolis 500 , but could not reach the goal on both occasions. In 1951 he was classified as 11th on a Kurtis Kraft 2000- Offenhauser , although he had only covered around ¾ of the discipline and thus received points for the championship ranking. 1960 - nine years and a few unsuccessful qualification attempts later - he retired with Kurtis Kraft 500-Offenhauser due to a brake defect on lap 74. Since the race from 1950 to 1960 was counted as part of the drivers' world championship , its statistics also include two Grand Prix starts. However, he could not score points here.
He died of a heart attack in 1983 while attending a car race.
