Generoso Camiña

Generoso C. Camiña PME (born November 22, 1931 in Leon in the province of Iloilo , Philippines , † April 1, 2007 ) was Bishop of the Diocese of Digos in Digos , Philippines.

Life

Generoso C. Camiña studied philosophy at the San Jose Seminary in Quezon , and from 1951 theology in Canada . He joined the religious order of the Paris Mission (Société des Missions Etrangères (PME)) and was ordained a priest in Davao on June 30, 1959, and served as a priest in Babak in the Davao region from 1962 to 1963 . From 1967 to 1970 he was the rector of the Holy Cross College (HCDC) in Davao. In 1970 he made a Master of Arts degree from Ateneo de Manila University and in 1972 an MA in catechism from Saint Paul University in Ottawa . From 1972 to 1976 he was Regens of the St. Francis Xavier Seminary in Davao and from 1977 to 1978 rector of the San Pedro Cathedral .

In 1980, Generoso C. Camiña was appointed auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Davao by John Paul II and named titular bishop of Pauzera . In 1979 he was appointed the first bishop of the newly founded diocese of Digos. Because of health problems, Guillermo Dela Vega Afable was appointed coadjutor in 2002 . In 2003, his resignation was granted by Pope John Paul II.
