Eugene Cyril "Geno" Smith III (* 10. October 1990 in Miami , Florida ) is an American American football poker players at the position of quarterback . He plays for the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League . He previously worked for the Los Angeles Chargers and the New York Giants .

After playing for West Virginia University during college , he was selected as the 39th player by the New York Jets in the 2013 NFL Draft . In the 2013 season he came to 16 missions, in 2014 to 14. After that, however, due to the commitment of Ryan Fitzpatrick, he came only sporadically to missions.

On April 1, 2018, he signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers. Here he was able to win the race for the position of backup quarterback behind Philip Rivers against his competitor Cardale Jones.

To stimulate competition for the position of backup quarterback behind Russell Wilson , Geno Smith was signed by the Seattle Seahawks on May 15, 2019.
