When evaluating data from a radio telescope , scientists discover that a cloud of dark matter is on a collision course with the earth, and that it is no longer possible to prevent its impact. At the same time, Matt Mason goes on a camping trip with his son Rick. His daughters Kaley and Cassie stay behind in Los Angeles with Matt's new wife, Johanna . When dark matter hits the earth, this event triggers devastating earthquakes worldwide. Matt and Rick's tent falls into an abyss, the two of them save themselves at the last second. Meanwhile, Johanna and her stepdaughters try to free themselves from their house, which is threatened by collapse, and they finally succeed.

Meanwhile, the earth is being hit by increasingly devastating catastrophes. While fleeing a volcanic eruption, Matt and Rick attempt to return to town to save Johanna and the girls. They manage to establish radio contact. When Matt and Rick meet other survivors, they are initially threatened by them; after they are saved from the lava flow, however, they make friends with the group, who identify themselves as preppers , and are asked to come with them to their bunker. However, Matt decides not to go without Johanna, Kaley, and Cassie. The women manage to escape shortly before a huge tsunami triggered by the earthquake destroys the city, and the entire family can escape to the prepper bunker just before a huge tornado hits the area.

Geo-Disaster first aired in the United States on October 3, 2017, around two and a half weeks before Geostorm opened in theaters . Geo-Disaster - You Can't Escape! received mostly negative reviews. The editorial team of Cinema describes the film as "nonsense [...] in which a no-name ensemble is running away from ill-designed earthquakes, tornadoes and volcanoes" and draws the conclusion: "Oh, people, honestly, who's watching this stuff ? ” Cinema indicates the financial failure of the original Geostorm with the statement“ The Asylum certainly did not waste 120 million on it ”.
