Geo Goidaci (* 14. March 1947 in Iojib , Romania as Gheorghe Goidaci ) is a German sculptor , media artist and art teacher of Romanian origin.

Life

Geo Goidaci comes from a family of craftsmen. His father, grandfather and great-grandfather all practiced the profession of cooper and thus shaped his preference for wood and round shapes. His artistic talent was discovered early on and he was sent to the Liceul de arte Romulus Ladea art high school in Cluj , where he learned to draw, paint and model. After graduating from high school, he studied sculpture and art education at the " Ion Andreescu " art academy in Cluj from 1966 to 1972 and worked from 1972 to 1984 as a specialist teacher for sculpture and spatial design at the Liceul de Arte Plastice art school in Timisoara . The restrictions imposed by the Ceausescu regime led him to emigrate to Germany in 1984. First he worked as a stone sculptor in Altötting, later as a restorer at the Glyptothek (Munich) . He became an employee of the sculptor and restorer Silvano Bertolin and took part in restoration work on ancient marble works in the Archaeological Museum of Samos, in the National Museum of Rome and in the Castello Aragonese near Naples. Among other things, he restored the Igel column in Trier and the gable figures of the Propylaea (Munich) in Bertolin's team . From 1989–1995 he trained in electronic image processing, took part in the Ars Electronica art festival in Linz and exhibited his works in the Art 54 gallery in Soho New York. At the end of the 90s he found his way back to sculpture and created the marble cycle Fragments .

He works as a freelance visual artist and lecturer for sculpture and digital art and leads creative courses for children and adults. Geo Goidaci is a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists and the Paul Klinger Artists' Social Work .

Works

plant

The work spans a large period of time with various stages of development, from the academic-figurative to the symbolic-abstract of the more recent works. This also applies to the technology: from the manual processing of wood or stone to digital art . Goidaci spans a bridge between two worlds and cultures.

His work describes the sensual embodiment of the transition , the transition, as in his cycle Fragments . The core of his message is light as a symbol and medium ( light man and terra ). The negative forms get a positive effect ( Die Schwelle , Lichtmensch 1 ) His credo is the cleansing and healing power of art. It should offer people a higher perspective and heal the soul, whereby this power comes from the harmony, beauty and not least from the creative power of the artist.
