Geoffrey Mujangi Bia (born August 12, 1989 in Kinshasa , Zaire ) is a Belgian football player . The midfielder , who was born in what is now DR Congo , signed to Kayserispor in 2017 .

Athletic career

Together with his family, Mujangi Bia emigrated from his Central African homeland to Zellik, Belgium, and was first noticed in the youth department of Union Saint-Gilloise in the capital, Brussels . The midfielder, who can be deployed on the outside as well as in the center, caught the attention of the talent eyes of RSC Anderlecht , who promptly accepted him into the club's own academy. Mujangi Bia was part of a very promising year there, but as an adolescent he also made a name for himself through some stupidities and indisciplines, which in turn led to his dismissal.

A few months later he joined Sporting Charleroi , where he made his professional debut on December 17, 2006 on the occasion of a 0-1 defeat against SV Zulte Waregem . In the subsequent 2007/08 season he scored his first three league goals in the Jupiler League , before finally celebrating his sporting breakthrough as a Belgian U-21 selection player in the 2008/09 season with 28 league games.

With his creative style of play and above-average shot hardness, Mujangi Bia developed a reputation that also extended beyond the Belgian borders and on January 21, 2010, the English first division team Wolverhampton Wanderers decided to hire out until the end of the 2009/10 season - plus an option a subsequent transfer. Nine days later, the newcomer made his Premier League debut and narrowly missed the winner in the 2-2 draw against Hull City after his late substitution. At the end of the season, the Wolves extended the loan period with Bia for another year.

In April 2011, Standard Liège's management announced the signing of a three-year contract with Mujangi Bia. From 2012 to 2013, the national player was loaned to Watford FC for one year , but was less successful there and only made three league appearances. Back in Belgium, he quickly became a regular in the offensive line of his club. This remained the same in the 2014/15 season that started recently (as of August 12, 2014), in which Mujangi Bia can already boast three goals and one assist in two games.

For the 2017/18 season he moved to the Turkish first division club Kayserispor .

Belgian national team

Mujangi Bia decided against an appearance for his Congolese country of birth and instead became part of the Belgian national team . In the Kirin Cup he made his debut on May 29, 2009 for the "red devils" and parted ways with the Chilean selection with a 1-1 draw. He had previously played for the Belgian U-20 and U-21 youth.
