Georg Adolf Moritz Ahlhorn

Georg Adolf Moritz Ahlhorn (* December 25, 1838 in Varel ; † December 31, 1917 in Eversten ) was an Oldenburg civil servant and from 1901 to 1909 regional president in the Principality of Birkenfeld , an exclave of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg .

Ahlhorn was the son of the later senior church councilor Wilhelm Ahlhorn (1803–1888). He was married to Louise von der Lippe (February 5, 1851 - December 7, 1894). The marriage produced five sons, including Wilhelm (1873–1968), who later became the representative of the Oldenburg Reichsrat , Walther (1897–1961) , who later became the imperial district administrator, and Gustav (1886–1971), who later became the senior church councilor .

He attended high school in Oldenburg and studied economics and law at the universities of Heidelberg , Berlin and Göttingen from 1857 to 1860 .

In 1865 he entered the Oldenburg state service and worked in the offices of Oldenburg and Cloppenburg and the city administrations in Varel and Oldenburg. In 1875 he became an official in the Stollhamm office and in 1879 an official in the Jever office . In 1882 he was transferred to the Department of the Interior as a lecturing councilor, where he was responsible for the department for agriculture, dike and sewerage matters. The horse breeding law and the contract with Bremen on the correction of the Weser were largely created by him. He was a member of the supervisory board of the Oldenburgische Landesbank .

Between May 1, 1901 and May 1, 1909 he was the district president in the Principality of Birkenfeld.
