Georg Albrecht von Birckholtz

Georg Albrecht von Birckholtz (born May 13, 1710 ; † July 24, 1777 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Was a Prussian district administrator and chamber clerk. From 1735 to 1744 he headed the district of Dramburg and then became director, later president of the Neumärkischen War and Domainkammer .

He came from the noble von Birckholtz family . His father Carl Berndt von Birckholtz (* 1666; † 1746) was a Prussian Rittmeister and heir to Saranzig , Dormitzel , Schilde and Neu Lobitz . His mother was born von der Goltz .

Georg Albrecht von Birckholtz attended the Glaucha pedagogy . From 1729 he studied law at the University of Halle . In 1734 he became an ausculator at the Neumärkischen War and Domain Chamber in Küstrin .

In 1735 he became district administrator of the Dramburg district, which was then part of Neumark . In 1744 he became chamber director at the Neumärkischen War and Domain Chamber; his successor as district administrator was George Ernst von der Goltz . In 1763 he was promoted to President of the Chamber as the successor to Samuel Gottlieb von Rothenburg . In 1768 he was dismissed by King Friedrich II without a pension ; Balthasar Leopold von Brauchitsch became the new President of the Chamber .

Georg Albrecht von Birckholtz inherited the Neu Lobitz and Schilde family estates in 1754 after the death of his older brother Johann Carl von Birckholtz. Both goods were highly indebted and were put up for sale several times without a buyer having been found. He also inherited the Rosenow estate in Borckescher Kreis in Hinterpommern, which he had bought in 1747; Rosenow was legally sold to the highest bidder in 1774.

Because of his poor financial situation, Birckholtz tried to get a pension, and his son, then a lieutenant , wrote to the king about it. Birckholtz received the office of lottery director in East Prussia . As such he died in Königsberg i. Pr.

Georg Albrecht von Birckholtz was married to Sophie Henriette Albertine, a daughter of Chamber President Christian Ernst von Münchow , from 1740 .
