Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Büchner (born June 8, 1862 in Darmstadt ; † September 11 or 12 , 1944 there ) was a Hessian industrialist and politician ( DDP ) and a former member of the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

Georg Büchner was the son of the doctor Friedrich Karl Christian Ludwig Büchner (1824–1899) and his wife Karoline Georgine Sophie née Thomas (1836–1920). Georg Büchner, who was a Protestant denomination, married Marie Luise Therese, née Schenk, on July 14, 1892 in Darmstadt , the daughter of the councilor and factory owner Carl Schenck, and his wife Anne, née Knorr.

education and profession

Georg Büchner studied modern philology at the University of Gießen and was awarded a Dr. PhD. After graduating, he worked as a high school teacher. In 1891 he joined Carl Schenck, a company founded by his father-in-law, and became a partner and managing director.

He was heavily involved in association work. He was chairman of the Association of Metal Industries and the Federation of Employers' Associations in Hesse and Hesse-Nassau. At the national level, he was a member of the board of the General Association of German Metal Industries and the German Association of Conveyors and Large Scales.

politics

Georg Büchner belonged to the Landtag of the People's State of Hesse for the DDP for the first two electoral periods from 1919 to 1924 . In the third electoral term he was initially not elected, but on September 26, 1925, he succeeded Konrad Henrich in the state parliament, to which he belonged until 1927.
