Georg Bierbaum

Georg Bierbaum (born August 13, 1889 in Neugersdorf , † June 22, 1953 in Dresden ) was a German prehistorian .

The archaeologist with a doctorate was a research assistant at the Museum of Mineralogy, Geology and Prehistory in Dresden from 1923 . In 1927 he was appointed curator . In 1931 he became head of the archive of prehistoric finds from Saxony in Dresden. In 1938 he took over the position of director of the State Museum for Prehistory and Early History in Dresden. In 1949, he went at the age of 60 years in retirement . His scientific legacy is now kept in the Saxon State Archives - Main State Archives Dresden .

Bierbaum was a corresponding member of the German Archaeological Institute from 1933 .
