Georg Karl Gottlob von der Gablenz (also: Gabelentz ) (* 1708 in Lemnitz ; † March 25, 1777 in Schweidnitz ) was a Prussian lieutenant general, chief of infantry regiment No. 40 , bearer of the Order of the Black Eagle and commander of the Schweidnitz fortress.

Life

His parents were Christoph Friedrich von der Gablenz heir to Lemnitz and Schiebelau and Johanna Magdalena von der Gablenz from the Poschwitz family.

In 1727 he joined the army of Sachsen-Eisenach . The Duke Wilhelm Heinrich von Sachsen-Eisenach left Emperor Karl VI. the regiment for its campaigns on the Rhine and to Italy. After that, it was the King of Prussia Friedrich Wilhelm I left.

Gablenz was promoted to captain on February 20, 1735, to major on March 31, 1746, lieutenant colonel in February 1757, and in May to colonel. During the siege of Schweidnitz in 1757 he was in command of the Sternschanze, which he defended when the fortress was attacked. He was wounded in the battle of Kay and continued to fight in the battles of Prague , Kolin and Zorndorf .

He was appointed major general in September 1758 and he also became chief of Regiment No. 40 . In May 1764, King Friedrich II appointed him commandant of Schweidnitz. On May 21, 1764 he was made lieutenant general and in December 1772 he was awarded the Order of the Black Eagle .
