Georg Duffner (born May 18, 1954 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German entrepreneur and management consultant . He was managing director of the Witzenmann Group (1990–1994) and Vinci Germany (1995–2001) as well as CEO of the Röchling Group (2001–2016). He was politically active in the 1968 movement and has been a member of the Greens since 2011 .

education and profession

Duffner attended the humanistic Berthold-Gymnasium Freiburg . He then studied business administration and economics at the University of Mannheim from 1974 to 1980 (as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation ) and from 1980 to 1982 computer science in Karlsruhe . After completing his studies, he joined the Witzenmann Group in Pforzheim , where he became the company's managing director in 1990 . In 1995 he switched to the Germany holding company of the Vinci Group , the world market leader for construction services , as Managing Director , and in 1997 he also took over the chairmanship of the G + H Group in Ludwigshafen . In 2001 he moved to the Mannheim Röchling Group as CEO, and from 2002 he also headed the local automotive division . In 2016, Duffner decided not to extend his Executive Board contract and was elected to the Röchling Group's advisory board . Since then he has been working as a corporate and management consultant and holds mandates in various supervisory bodies.

Political commitment

Duffner began his political activities in 1968 in protest against the German emergency laws , later against the Vietnam War and the 1973 military coup in Chile . From 1976 he was a member of the Maoist Communist League of West Germany (KBW). He ran for the KBW in the federal election in 1976 in the Kaiserslautern constituency and in 1980 in the Karlsruhe-Stadt constituency . In 1982 Duffner co-founded the green alternative Karlsruhe city ​​newspaper Gegenruck , on which he worked as an editor until 1990. He has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 2011, and in 2017 he was elected to the party's local executive committee in Karlsruhe- Durlach .
