Georg Friedrich Dinglinger (born March 17, 1666 in Biberach an der Riss ; † December 24, 1720 in Dresden ) was a German painter and enameller at the court of Dresden.

Life

Georg Friedrich was the second son of cutler Conrad Dinglinger (1634–1683) and his wife Anna Margareta Schopper (1640–1709). Little is known about his youth. While his two brothers, Johann Melchior (1664–1731) and Georg Christoph (1668–1746), were learning the goldsmith's trade, Georg Friedrich turned to painting . In 1693 Dinglinger followed his brother to Dresden, where he found a job as court enameller for the Electorate of Saxony and Poland, King August II the Strong .

On May 16, 1695, Georg Friedrich Dinglinger married the merchant's daughter Katharina Barbara Gutermann (1675–1713) in Biberach an der Riss. Their marriage resulted in fifteen children, only five of whom reached adulthood, including Georg Friedrich Dinglinger (1702–1785), who later became an architect and master builder. After the early death of his first wife, Georg Friedrich Dinglinger married the cousin (second degree) of the poet Christoph Martin Wieland , Marie Felicitas Wieland (* 1693) on July 6, 1716 in his hometown . The marriage resulted in two sons, of whom the youngest Sebastian Heinrich Dinglinger (* 1720) established himself as a jeweler in London .
