Georg Heinrich Wahle

Georg Heinrich Wahle (born September 4, 1854 in Limbach ; † January 3, 1934 ) was a German legal scholar. He was director of the royal Saxon mining authority , professor of legal studies and mining law at the Bergakademie Freiberg and president of the Saxon Chamber of Accounts.

Life

Wahle was the son of the head of the court in Limbach, Richard Wahle (1816–1876), and his wife, Anna, geb. Schroeter. He grew up in Bautzen from 1856, where his father worked at the district court. After he was transferred to the Zwickau district administration , the family moved to the western Saxon city in 1862. Two years later, Wahle switched from the community school to the grammar school and continued his school education from 1867 to 1873 on a free space at the Princely School St. Augustin in Grimma .

He then took up a degree in law and camera science at the Universities of Heidelberg and Leipzig, which he interrupted in 1874 for a year of voluntary service in the field artillery. In 1878 Wahle received his doctorate. jur. After a four-year traineeship in Dresden, he passed the assessor examination and became an assistant judge in Freiberg.

On October 1, 1883, Wahle joined the Saxon mining administration as a legal mountain ridge and at the same time was appointed to the chair of general law and mining law at the Bergakademie Freiberg as the successor to Prof. Karl Edwin Leuthold , who was appointed director of the mining office . Wahle taught at the Bergakademie until 1891 and was particularly concerned with global mining legislation. After Leuthold's untimely death, Wahle was appointed director of the mining office.

In 1898 he moved to the second department of the Saxon Ministry of Finance, which was responsible for mining and metallurgy, forestry and intrad affairs, and which he headed from 1907 in the rank of ministerial director. On July 1, 1917, Wahle was appointed President of the Royal Saxon Chamber of Accounts. This authority, which was converted into a state audit office by law on July 4, 1922, was in charge of until October 31, 1922. In protest against illegal interference in his competencies by the SPD-led Buck government , he resigned his office and took over the position of First Chairman of the Red Cross in Saxony on November 1st . Due to the financial collapse of the Saxon Red Cross caused by inflation and a lack of support, Wahle retired on September 30, 1923, where he did scientific research.

Wahl wrote a large number of articles on mining legislation and one of the most important authors in "Brassert's magazine for mining law ". His main work was the commentary on the General Mining Act for the Kingdom of Saxony of June 16, 1868, published in 1891. He was in charge of the revision of the General Mining Act in 1910. He also drafted mining laws for Great Britain, Mexico, Albania, Transvaal and Austria.

On September 4, 1924, the Freiberg Mining Academy awarded him the title of Dr.-Ing. For his outstanding services to the development and promotion of mining law. E. h. Wahle was Commander 1st Class of the Prussian Red Eagle Order .

Wahle was a member of the Corps Guestphalia Heidelberg (1873) and Misnia (1875).

His son Gottlieb Richard Wahle also worked in the mining industry and worked in the general management of the Sächsische Werke corporation .
