Georg Holzwarth
Georg Holzwarth (born August 28, 1943 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a German writer and radio play author .
Life
Holzwarth grew up in Lautern in a strongly dialectical environment and only got to know the high German written language at school. After graduating from high school, he studied history , German and philosophy . From 1970 to 1987 he worked in the school service. Holzwarth has been a freelance writer and radio author since 1987.
Holzwarth's work includes novels , short stories , poetry , essays and radio plays , some in Swabian dialect . His first dialect poems were written in the early 1970s when dealing with his childhood and as a reaction to the lack of contemporary Swabian dialect poetry. Dadaism and the Viennese group around HC Artmann were models for his experimental and playful use of language . In his dialect work, Holzwarth works critically and breaks down established idioms; the dialect is used as an aesthetic device. He also uses dialectal formulations in the High German works to anchor his texts regionally.
