Schubart Literature Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schubart Literature Prize of the City of Aalen is a literary prize that the City of Aalen founded in 1955 in honor of Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart . It is one of the oldest literary prizes in the state of Baden-Württemberg .

The award has been given every two years since 1956 to German-speaking authors whose literary or journalistic achievement is "in the tradition of liberal and enlightening thinking ... of the poet, composer and first German journalist Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart". It is endowed with 15,000 euros. Until 2013 the total was 12,000 euros, which was divided accordingly in the case of several award winners; this possibility no longer exists since the increase in the prize money.

A Schubart Literature Prize has also been awarded since 2011, endowed with 5,000 euros (up to 2013 with 3,000 euros).
