Georg Künstler (born February 20, 1864 in Paaris , Rastenburg district , † December 8, 1957 in Diez ) was a German pastor.

Life

As the son of an Altmarker , artist attended high school in Allenstein . After graduating from high school, he began to study Protestant theology at the Albertus University in Königsberg . At that time he served in the infantry regiment "von Boyen" (5th East Prussian) No. 41 . He went to the Silesian Friedrich-Wilhelms University and renoncierte on 29 April 1883 at the Corps Borussia Wroclaw . Franz Thilo was a connoisseur . When he was inactive , he moved to the University of Leipzig and the Friedrichs University of Halle . After taking the first and second theological exams in Königsberg, he got the first pastor's position in Allenstein in 1888. Then he was pastor in Groß Arnsdorf, district of Mohrungen . He was transferred to Döbern in 1896 and in 1916 came to Fischhausen in Samland as superintendent . In 1928 he was elected to the Synod of the Church Province of East Prussia . As a Lutheran within the Prussian Union , he was a member of the Church Conference for East and West Prussia . 1934 emeritus , he moved to Königsberg (Prussia) . There he continuously represented sick or displaced pastors. In 1941, at the age of 77, he took over the parish of the Germau Church . During the East Prussian Operation (1945) he and his wife were imprisoned by the Red Army . After a few weeks he was released when the Wehrmacht had cleared the place again. All residents were evacuated and brought to Denmark via Danzig. There the couple was sent to a detention center. With more than 80 years, artist took over the pastoral care of the camp. In January 1947 he was deported to Germany with his wife and other inmates. In Altendiez he worked in hospital and elderly pastoral care until he was 90, until his poor eyesight made this service impossible for him. He was the oldest participant three times at the foundation festivals of his corps in Cologne.
