Georg Klimt
Georg Klimt (born November 2, 1867 in Vienna ; † September 3, 1931 there ) was an Austrian craftsman.
Life
Georg Klimt attended the Vienna School of Applied Arts from 1889 to 1896 , where he was trained in chasing and sculpture. In 1896 he started his own business. From 1897 he was regularly represented with goldsmithing and driving work in the exhibitions of the Austrian Museum for Art and Industry. From 1910 he was a teacher at the women's art school . Georg Klimt was very encouraged by his brother Gustav Klimt . Gustav also designed for him (such as his parents' grave cross; see here ), Georg Klimt carried out other work based on designs by Carl Otto Czeschka . Georg Klimt realized the doors of the Vienna Secession building based on designs by Joseph Maria Olbrich . Works based on designs by Alfred Roller , who recommended him as “probably the best and cheapest metal sculptor”, are also known.
Georg Klimt is buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery in the grave in group 16, extension B, row 5, number 19, which has been rented for the duration of the cemetery. The grave of his parents and his brother Ernst Klimt is in the Baumgartner Friedhof , Gustav Klimt's grave in the Hietzinger Friedhof (see here ).
