Georg Kotowski
Georg Hubert Kotowski (born June 12, 1920 in Thorn ; † November 29, 1999 in Berlin ) was a German university professor and politician ( CDU ).
Life
Son of the elementary school teacher Wilhelm Joseph Kotowski and Helene Anastasia born. Rink. The large Kotowski family moved to Berlin in 1920 because of their father's new teaching position. After graduating from high school in 1938, Kotowski did Reich Labor Service until 1945 and was in the Wehrmacht . He then studied and in 1948 was a student co-founder of the Free University of Berlin (FU). Kotowski was a pupil of the late Friedrich Meinecke ; he was one of the selected students who were admitted to his "privatissime" seminars. At the same time, he is said to have persuaded Meinecke to make himself available as the first symbolic president of the newly founded Free University. In 1959 he became a private lecturer and from 1966 was a full professor for the science of politics. From 1966 to 1988 he held the chair for the historical foundations of politics at the Otto Suhr Institute .
Since 1954 Kotowski was a member of the CDU. From 1958 to October 31, 1969 he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives . At the same time as the Bundestag election on September 28, 1969 , he was elected as a member of the Bundestag for Berlin by the House of Representatives. He was a member of this for an electoral term until 1972.
His daughter-in-law Cerstin-Ullrike Richter-Kotowski was also a member of the Berlin House of Representatives for the CDU.
Georg Kotowski died in Berlin in 1999 at the age of 79. His grave is in the Dahlem forest cemetery .
