Georg Langgartner

Georg Langgärtner (born September 23, 1926 in Aschaffenburg , † April 23, 1987 in Würzburg ) was a German Catholic theologian.

Life

After the Reichsarbeitsdienst and military service from 1944 and the captivity of war , from which he was released in August 1945, he passed the Abitur in July 1946 in his hometown. He studied medicine for one semester at the University of Würzburg and, from the summer semester of 1947, philosophy and history at the PTH Bamberg . In the winter semester of 1947/1948 he returned to Würzburg, where he studied theology, philosophy and history until 1952 . After being ordained a priest on July 20, 1952, he was chaplain in St. Vitus (Veitshöchheim) and Marktheidenfeld , then from 1953 to 1960 prefect in the Kilianeum (Würzburg) . In August 1960 he became a research assistant at the Catholic Theological Faculty. After graduation in 1962 to doctor of theology and habilitation in 1963 he was appointed in 1964 lecturers appointed, and in 1965 a university lecturer for "Church History, Patrology and Liturgy history". In December 1966 he was appointed to the newly created chair for liturgical science. His academic students are Karl Schlemmer and Guido Fuchs . From 1969 to 1975 he was dean . He was significantly involved in the establishment of the permanent diaconate in the Diocese of Würzburg . For the cathedral school in Würzburg he wrote an apprenticeship letter in the theology in the correspondence course .
