Georg Lasius

Georg Lasius (born April 15, 1835 in Easter Castle , † June 28, 1928 in Zurich ; full name: Georg Christian Otto Lasius ) was a German architect and university professor .

Life

Lasius was a son of the architect Otto Lasius (1797–1888). He initially served as a seaman from 1851 to 1853. From 1854 to 1857 he studied architecture at the Hanover Polytechnic , where he also worked practically with Conrad Wilhelm Hase . During his studies in Hanover, Lasius became a member of the Corps Saxonia there . In 1859 he continued his studies with Gottfried Semper at the Zurich Polytechnic . After passing the state examination (1860) and working in Oldenburg, he completed his habilitation in 1862 at the Zurich Polytechnic. He then stayed temporarily in Paris. In 1863 he returned to Zurich, where in 1867 he became professor of building construction theory and architectural drawing. In 1923 he retired.

Among his children were the painter and graphic artist Otto Lasius (1866–1933), the architect Theodor Lasius (* 1868) and the painter Wilhelm Lasius (* 1871).

Awards

The University of Zurich awarded Lasius an honorary doctorate in 1905 .
