Georg Mein

Georg Mein (* 1970 in Hamburg ) is Professor of Modern German Literature at the University of Luxembourg .

Life

Georg Mein received his doctorate as Dr. phil. with the work “The conception of the beautiful. The Aesthetic Discourse between Enlightenment and Romanticism: Kant - Moritz - Hölderlin - Schiller ”at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . Jürgen Fohrmann and Peter Pütz were the supervisors .

After his second state examination in 2001, Georg Mein worked as a research assistant to Klaus-Michael Bogdal at Bielefeld University , where he started his thesis “And why readers in poor time. Literary Education and Sociocultural Milieus ”completed his habilitation . In 2005 he was awarded the Karl Peter Grotemeyer Prize.

In March 2006 he was appointed to the University of Luxembourg .

From October 2009 to September 2010 Georg Mein was a fellow at the International Morphomata College at the University of Cologne .

His research focuses on literature from the 18th century to the present day, literacy research, the sociology of literature, and media and cultural theory.

Georg Mein has been Dean of the Faculty of Linguistics and Literature, Humanities, Art and Education since February 2013.
