Georg Michaelis (born August 25, 1852 in Charlottenburg ; † July 1, 1912 on a train between Frankfurt-Niederrad and Kelsterbach ) was President of the Royal Prussian and Grand-Ducal Hessian Railway Directorate in Mainz from 1908 until his death in 1912 .

Georg Michaelis studied law at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität zu Berlin and graduated with a doctorate in law.

He then worked in the railway directorates in Frankfurt (1881–1897), Halle (1897–1905) and Cassel (1905–1908, from 1906 as deputy director) before becoming President of the Royal Prussian and Grand Ducal Hessians on September 10, 1908 Railway Directorate in Mainz was appointed. On July 1, 1912, Georg Michaelis was on an express train with his wife on the return trip from Frankfurt am Main to Mainz, where he had attended a friend's wedding when he suffered a stroke that he had while traveling between Frankfurt -Niederrad and Kelsterbach succumbed.

The funeral was held on July 4, 1912 Direktionsgebäude place in Mainz. The body was transferred to the main train station and then driven to Gut Köckern near Brehna . The corresponding car was made available in the main train station on the "Wiesbaden platform". Georg Michaelis was buried in the family crypt at Gut Köckern.
