Georg Otto (politician)

Georg Otto (born August 6, 1928 in Großenhain ) is a retired high school teacher from Eberholzen , who was a co-founder of the political party Die Grünen . He also founded the quarterly magazine "Alternatives". Otto is still the spokesman for the liberal-social wing of the Greens and chairman of the “Aktion Third Way” (A3W).

Life

Originally coming from the socially and ecologically oriented "Bund Freisocial Life Reformers", Georg Otto ran for the Free Social Union for the Bundestag in 1969 . In 1971 he became chairman of the Lower Saxony regional association of the World Association for the Protection of Life .

After a brief SPD membership, Otto became chairman of the Green List Environmental Protection (GLU) in Lower Saxony at a GLU state delegate meeting in July 1978 , which was one of the first state parties on the Green List to win a 3.86 percent in the Lower Saxony state election in June 1978 Had achieved respectable success.

Otto was previously the spokesman for the regional Green Environmental Protection List , which emerged from the liberal-social working group Third Way in Hildesheim and which was the first green environmental protection list in the Lower Saxony municipal and district council elections in the Hildesheim district in 1976 and won a mandate. In 1980 Otto was a co-founder of the Federal Green Party and head of organization of the first federal executive.

At the end of 1999 Otto founded the magazine "Alternatives for an ecological, social, grassroots-democratic and non-violent society", in which various economic theoretical models such as B. be presented by Silvio Gesell .
