Georg Philipp von Greiffenclau

Baron Georg Philipp von Greiffenclau to Vollrath (* 20th August 1620 ; † 6. July 1689 ) was landowner in the Rheingau and kurmainzerischer upper office man in Koenigstein im Taunus .

Life

Georg Philipp came from the imperial knightly family von Greiffenclau . He married Rosina von Oberstein on August 20, 1650 . The marriage resulted in two sons and six daughters. His son Johann Philipp von Greiffenclau zu Vollraths (1652-1719) became Prince-Bishop of Würzburg . After the death of his first wife in 1658, he married Anna Margaretha von Buseck († 1696) for the second time on November 19, 1659 . The second marriage resulted in 12 sons and 6 daughters.

In 1646 Georg Philipp von Greiffenclau joined Vollraths in the service of the Electorate of Hesse. In 1656 he was appointed senior bailiff of the Königstein senior office. He held this office for 26 years before asking Elector Anselm Franz von Ingelheim to dismiss on April 23, 1682 . He spent his old age on the family-owned estate in the Rheingau.
