Georg Rabuse

Georg Rabuse (born February 20, 1910 in Leonstein , † June 20, 1976 in Vienna ) was an Austrian Romance studies and literary scholar.

Life

Rabuse studied from 1929 to 1935 in Vienna, Innsbruck, Halle / Saale and Paris and was a lecturer and trainee lawyer in Innsbruck. He joined the NSDAP on August 6, 1938 . After the German occupation of France, in July 1940 he went to the German Institute, newly founded in Paris, and had been its deputy director since February 1942 when Karl Heinz Bremer was drafted.

Rabuse was from 1958 to 1965 Associate Professor of Romance Studies at the University of World Trade and from 1965 to 1972, as the successor to Alfred Noyer-Weidner, Full Professor of Romance Philology at the University of Vienna . He was best known as a Dante researcher for his book The Cosmic Structure of Dante's Beyond Realms. A key to the Divine Comedy , Graz 1958.
