Georg Salvamoser
Georg Salvamoser (born February 2, 1950 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ; † September 21, 2009 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German entrepreneur , one of the pioneers in the German solar energy industry .
Life
After graduating from secondary school and studying business informatics on a secondary education path , he first worked at Kawasaki Motors , the Gubor chocolate factory and then for eleven years as the commercial plant manager of the prefabricated house company OKAL . In 1991 he started his own business in Freiburg im Breisgau - together with his wife and supported by Alfred T. Ritter , the grandson of the chocolate manufacturer Alfred Ritter ( Ritter Sport ) - with the capital from the sale of his house and founded a workshop for the assembly of solar power systems, Solar-Energie-Systeme GmbH (SES). Due to its economic success, he was able to build on this in 1998, also in Freiburg, to found SAG Solarstrom AG , which financed, built and operated solar power systems . In May 1996, Salvamoser founded the first independent manufacturing company for solar power modules in Germany, the Solar-Fabrik , again in Freiburg . The financing was supported by over 100 silent partners , Salvamoser acquired the know-how through cooperation with the US Spire Corporation . Salvamoser built the solar factory, which was founded as a GmbH, without any public subsidy into an international stock corporation that has been active along the entire value chain and has been listed on the stock exchange since 2002. Until the end of 2006 he was CEO of the company, which ceased operations on June 30, 2015. Most recently, Salvamoser was the owner and managing director of an international management consultancy for renewable energies based in Freiburg.
Salvamoser also founded several organizations and institutions in the field of renewable energies. From November 2007 until his death, Salvamoser was President of the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar).
In 2013, the Freiburg Technology Center (TZF) was named after Salvamoser.
Awards
- 1996: Awarded together with Solar-Fabrik in the nationwide competition "Photovoltaics in Buildings" by the Federal Minister for Education and Research in cooperation with the Association of German Architects
- 1997: Eurosolar Prize 1997
- 1998: Environmental award from the Federal Environment Foundation for performance in photovoltaics
- 1999: Winner of the Energy Globe Award
- 2000: Salvamosers Solar-Fabrik is the lead project of the worldwide Expo 2000 exhibit “ Solar Region Freiburg” and the German Federal Environment Foundation ; Georg Salvamoser will also be shown as an exemplary entrepreneur as part of the "Ideas Workshop Germany", a collection of portrait busts of innovative and outstanding German personalities in the German Pavilion at Expo 2000
