Georg Schneidemühl

Georg Schneidemühl (born December 15, 1853 in Elbing ; † November 3, 1928 ) was a German veterinarian and university professor.

Life

Georg Schneidemühl began studying veterinary medicine at the Berlin Veterinary School in October 1872 and became a member of the Corps Franconia Berlin. In August 1875 he received his veterinary license . In 1875/76 he served as a one-year volunteer with the 2nd Guards Field Artillery Regiment in Berlin. In October 1876 he became an interim district veterinarian in Hoyerswerda . In May 1879 he passed the exam for civil servants. In the same year he became an assistant at the veterinary clinic at the University of Halle . In 1880 he became a district veterinarian for the Plön district in Kiel and at the same time a lecturer at the University of Kiel . From October 1875 he studied medicine and natural sciences at the universities of Berlin, Halle and Kiel. From 1882 to 1884 he was a tutor for anatomy and physiology at the Hanover Veterinary School . In 1883 he received his doctorate from the University of Erlangen. phil. PhD. In 1890 he completed his habilitation at the University of Kiel and became a private lecturer there. In 1892 he went for a year as a lecturer in veterinary medicine at the Agricultural Institute and head of the veterinary clinic at the University of Breslau . In 1896 he was appointed titular professor at the University of Kiel, in 1906 he was appointed associate professor with a teaching position for comparative pathology, in 1920 he was civil servant and in 1922 he retired.

From 1886 to 1892, Schneidemühl was the editor of the Tiermedizinische Rundschau, which was published until 1992. At his suggestion, the Reichsmarineamt set up courses for medical officers in animal food hygiene in 1890.
