Georg Schulte (politician)

Georg Schulte (born March 29, 1903 in Hersfeld , † February 1, 1976 in Saarbrücken ) was a German social democratic politician in Saarland .

Life

Schulte worked for various social democratic newspapers during the Weimar Republic . Most recently he was employed by the “Volksstimme” in Saarbrücken . After the annexation of the Saar area , he emigrated to France in 1935 . There he was arrested by the Gestapo after the German occupation in 1942 . A case of treason was initiated against him, but this was discontinued. After his release, he remained under police control until the end of National Socialist rule. After the war he was instrumental in founding the SPS in Saarland and was its chairman from 1945 to 1946 until the official founding party congress. As Director of the Interior, he was a member of the Saarland Administrative Commission in 1946/47 . Between 1947 and 1952 he was a member of the Saarland state parliament.
