Research priorities
Stauth's focus areas are interdisciplinary. They range from sociology and Islamic studies to ethnology, religious studies and philosophy. In extensive field research he dealt with the relationship between farmers and the state, with rural labor migration , with structural and cultural modernization, e.g. B. in Egypt or Turkey , later with the sociology of Islam, with the theory of modernity , with the influence of Friedrich Nietzsche in the work of Max Weber, with Ludwig Klages and with the Frankfurt School , with Karl Jaspers , with the theme: Michel Foucault and Islam. He also devoted himself to western orientalism , most recently with the persecution-related exile of the conservative Frankfurt orientalist Hellmut Ritter in Turkey. Last field research led Stauth to Egyptian holy places in the Nile Delta.
