Georg Waldstein-Wartenberg

Georg Waldstein-Wartenberg (born December 17, 1942 in Buchberg am Kamp ) is an Austrian business journalist and publicist .

Life

After he had passed his Matura in Horn in 1962, Georg Waldstein studied law and world trade in Vienna from 1962 to 1966 , but broke off both studies without a degree. 1964/65 he did his military service .

From 1967 Georg Waldstein worked in the editorial department of the weekly press before he finally switched to the Austrian editorial office of the Bunten in 1969 . When Oscar Bronner founded the business magazine trend in 1970 , Waldstein was there as an editor.

In 1973 Waldstein founded the weekly business magazine Ecco together with six other trend editors . In 1975 he returned to “trend” as publisher and editor-in-chief before moving to Kurier in 1977 , where he became editor and board member.

In March 1982 Georg Waldstein founded the business magazine Profit together with Georg Wailand , where he has been the publisher and managing director ever since.

In 2003, Waldstein founded the Hungarian business magazine Haszon with Karl Stipsicz and Austrian investors . In 2011 he invested in the Viennese startup THIRD MAN and holds a 26% stake in the company as a limited partner.

Waldstein was also a member of the Presidium and, for a time, Vice-President of the Association of Austrian Newspapers .

Origin and family

Georg Waldstein comes from the Waldstein family , a Bohemian nobility with the parent house of Burg Waldstein near Turnau . His parents are Eugen Waldstein-Wartenberg and Marie Elisabeth Croÿ .

In 1969 he married Marie-Therese Spiegelfeld, with whom he has three children, Mariella (* 1969), Eugen (* 1972) and Maximilian (* 1976). This marriage was divorced in 1981 and he has been married to Bettina Kielmansegg since 1982.
