Georg Wailand
Georg Wailand (born August 24, 1946 in Vienna ) is an Austrian winemaker , business journalist and publicist .
Life
Wailand was born the son of a C-career civil servant. After high school graduation and military service, he studied at the University of World Trade in Vienna.
Wailand then worked as a freelance sports journalist for the daily newspaper Neues Österreich , later he wrote a. a. for the world on Monday . In 1970 he became the business editor of the tabloid Express . In 1971 he switched to the Kronen Zeitung , where he took over the economic department in 1974. In 1982 he also became editor of the business magazine profit . In 1991 he became deputy editor-in-chief of the Kronen Zeitung . In 2012 he became the journal's managing editor-in-chief . He was considered a confidante of Hans Dichand , but contradicted him in dealing too positively with the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ).
Since 1976 he has been a lecturer in business journalism at the Vienna University of Economics and Business .
He is the owner of the Wailand winery in Döbling . In addition, he is currently a member of the supervisory board of Constantia Industries AG. Before that he was a member of the supervisory board of Vienna Airport and the retail chain Libro , for which he was criticized.
He is married to a Dutch woman and has two children.
