Ingrid Brodnig (born November 9, 1984 in Graz ) is an Austrian journalist and publicist . From 2015 to 2017 she was editor of the Austrian news magazine Profil .

Life

Brodnig studied "Journalism and Corporate Communication" at the FH Joanneum in Graz. She then worked for the city magazine Falter , then as editor of the news magazine Profil with a focus on media and digital topics. In February 2017, she left the editorial team of Profil to become “self-employed as a publicist and digital expert”. She continues to work for Profil as a columnist .

Brodnig's work focuses on digital topics. In her first book, The Invisible Man. How anonymity on the Internet is changing our society , she addresses anonymity on the Internet . In her second book, Hate on the Net. What we can do against hate speech , bullying and lies , the journalist goes into communication problems, such as hate speech , of the internet, analyzes them and gives tips on how to react to them on the internet. Because of her main topic, she is interviewed by many media.

Brodnig is one of the supporters of the Charter of Digital Fundamental Rights of the European Union , which was published at the end of November 2016.

In April 2017, she was appointed digital ambassador ( Digital Champion ) of Austria in the EU by the Austrian federal government.
