The tip pen
The tip pen was an Austrian award for female journalists , which was founded in 1999 by the Viennese councilor Jutta Sander and until 2010 was awarded by the FrauenNetzwerk Medien . In addition, a sponsorship award for young female journalists was awarded until 2007.
The Vienna Journalist Award is a kind of successor award .
dedication
According to the founder, this award was intended to recognize “outstanding journalists' achievements in women's politics and democracy. The tip of the pen should give courage. "
After her election to the Vienna City Council in 1992, Jutta Sander decided to waive her salary as a municipal employee. However, this was not possible for legal reasons, which is why a lawsuit that lasted for years resulted. After the local council changed the legal situation, Sander decided to use the money that had been saved up to that point for women's issues - as a prize for journalists who are particularly committed to women's issues. In the following years the award was donated by the Green politicians Monika Vana and Eva Glawischnig .
In 2011, the red-green coalition established the Vienna Journalist Prize as a successor prize in the Vienna City Hall , financed by Wien Holding and also awarded by the FrauenNetzwerk Medien. It is under the patronage of the two Vienna Vice Mayors and the Vienna City Councilor for Women.
