Georg Westermayer

Georg Westermayer (also Georg Westermair ; born April 13, 1836 in Rosenheim , † December 17, 1893 in Feldkirchen ) was a German historian , poet and Roman Catholic clergyman .

Life

Georg Westermayer was born in Rosenheim as the son of coppersmith Peter Westermair and his wife Elisabeth, née Egger. From 1850 to 1852 he first attended the Freising Gymnasium and then switched to the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich . He graduated from there in 1855. After studying philosophy at the University of Munich until 1857 , he went to the Freising Lyceum , where he studied theology until 1860. He was ordained a priest there on June 5, 1860. Afterwards he first became a cooperator in Prien am Chiemsee , in 1865 he moved to the same position in Tölz .

Westermayer stayed in Tölz and became a beneficiary and preacher there in 1867 . At the same time he dealt with the history of the place and finally published a chronicle of the place. In 1879 he moved to Feldkirchen as pastor and in 1890 also became treasurer of the Aibling dean's office .

Westermayer was appointed to the archbishop's clergy in 1885 .
