Georg von Köller

Georg von Köller (born February 17, 1823 in Jasenitz ; † March 12, 1916 in Kantreck ) was a German administrative lawyer and landlord in the Kingdom of Prussia. He sat on the Prussian State Council and was President of the Prussian House of Representatives for 18 years .

Life

origin

Georg came from the Pomeranian noble family Köller . He was the son of the Pomeranian General Landscape Director Matthias von Köller and his wife Juliane Mathilde, née von Wedel (1803-1859).

Career

Köller studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität from 1841 and became a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg the following year . As an inactive , he moved to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Berlin in 1844 . From 1850 to 1868 he was district administrator of the Cammin district .

From 1866 to 1903 he sat in the Prussian House of Representatives for the constituency of Stettin 6 ( Greifenberg ). He was first vice-president of this chamber until 1874 and its president from 1879 to 1897. At first, Köller joined the Conservative Party , then the New Conservatives , and finally did not belong to any parliamentary group for a while . Most recently, he returned to the Conservatives until he gave up his mandate.

Köller was also chairman of the Pomeranian Provincial Parliament from 1876 to 1906 . When he became State Councilor, Köller left the Second Chamber. He managed the Kantreck manor in the administrative district of Stettin . He was also a landlord on Siegelkow, Schwanteshagen, Lüttmannshagen, Dischenhagen, Hammer and others. His younger brother Ernst von Köller (1841–1928) was the Prussian Minister of the Interior from 1894–95, Upper President of the Province of Schleswig-Holstein from 1897–1901 and then until 1908 State Secretary in the Ministry for Alsace-Lorraine.

Köller was Real Privy Councilor and was made Knight of the Black Eagle Order for his work .

family

He married on December 21, 1847 Halberstadt Ida Marie von Wurmb (1825-1892), the daughter of Major General Ludwig von Wurmb (1788-1855) and Adelaide von Kleist (1794-1854) (daughter of Franz Alexander von Kleist ). The daughter Julie (1859–1942) emerged from the marriage and married Leo Karl Friedrich Wilhelm von Ploetz (1848–1915) on Stuchow and Quilow.
