George Burt (composer)
George Burt (born October 7, 1929 in San Francisco , California , † March 28, 2015 in Sonoma , California) was an American composer .
Life
Burt studied composition at the University of California, Berkeley , Mills College and Princeton University . His teachers were Milton Babbitt , Andrew Imbrie , Darius Milhaud , Leon Kirchner and Roger Sessions as well as György Ligeti in Vienna. He worked as a composition teacher at Smith College , the University of Michigan and Rice University . In 1997 he moved to Los Angeles.
