George Stuart Ellis (born September 7, 1932 in South Shields ) is a former British sprinter . He won medals over 100 and 200 meters at the European Championships in 1954 , as well as with the British team in the 4 x 100 meter relay .

In 1950 and 1951 Ellis was British junior champion over 220 yards , in 1953 British military champion over the two sprint courses. He was first nominated for the British team in 1953; for an international match against Sweden. As a British champion over 100 yards, Ellis started in 1954 at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver for England in 1954 , but missed the medal ranks; despite his personal best over 100 yards, he was eliminated in the run-up; over 220 yards he was sixth and fourth with the English relay.

In contrast, in the same year he won a medal at the European Championships in Bern in all three competitions in which he took part: bronze in the 100 and 200 meters and silver in the 4 x 100 meter relay ( Ken Jones , Ellis , Kenneth Box and Brian Shenton ).

Ellis celebrated a last British championship in 1955 over 220 yards.
