George Fludas

George Fludas (born October 10, 1966 in Chicago ) is an American modern jazz musician ( drums ) .

Live and act

Fludas, who grew up in Chicago, was influenced by his father, who was also a drummer. He attended Lane Tech High School , where he took music lessons and was a percussionist in their concert band and orchestra. After attending the Roosevelt University Music School in 1985 and 1986 , he began working as a freelance musician in his hometown with Von Freeman , Jodie Christian and Lin Halliday , and since the 1990s with musicians such as Eric Alexander , Rob Mazurek and Bobby Broom . 2000/01 he was a member of Ray Brown's trio ; he also played a. a. with Johnny Griffin , Cedar Walton , Hank Jones , Tommy Flanagan , Frank Wess , Bobby Hutcherson and Diana Krall and performed internationally, for example with Benny Green at the Bern Jazz Festival or with Monty Alexander at Umbria Jazz .

In Chicago he appears regularly in clubs such as The Jazz Showcase , The Green Mill and Pete Miller's. He also played in the trio of pianist Ron Perrillo and in the Chicago Jazz Orchestra , in New York with Rick Germanson , Jerry Weldon and Michael Weiss . In the field of jazz he was involved in 60 recording sessions between 1991 and 2018, including a. also with Monty Alexander, Geof Bradfield and Doug Lawrence . In 2018 Fludas released the album Organ Quartet under his own name , which he recorded with Scott Burns , Kyle Asche and Pete Benson.
