The Georgenthalweiher is a forest pond in the area of the municipality of Haundorf in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen .
description
The approximately 0.3 hectare large pond is located south of the Mönchsberg at an altitude of 453 m above sea level. NHN in the Haundorfer Wald , which is part of the Spalter hill country and also the Franconian Lake District . The pond is a good one and a half kilometers northwest of the village of Haundorf and a good two kilometers west-southwest of Oberhöhberg . The pond is fed by the outflow from the Pechhütten springs, which arise about 600 meters northeast on the southeast slope of the Mönchsberg (up to 529 m above sea level ) . The Mönchberggraben flows west of it and drains over the Nesselbach into the Altmühlsee .
A hiking trail leads past the south bank from the Rangau- Kreuzweg in the west, which connects to the Rangau line in the northeast. Not far was the Georgenthal hunting lodge of the Ansbach margraves.
